Bereavement
Bereavement at all times, whether expected or not, is a distressing experience. This advice may assist you to cope at this stressful time.
Death at home
Please telephone your doctor who will visit, certify death and issue a death certificate. If the death is sudden the doctor may not be able to issue the certificate and may have or refer the matter to the Coroner.
Death at hospital
A member of staff will explain to you when you collect the death certificate.
Funeral arrangements
Contact the Funeral Director and give him your instructions. He will, at a later time, discuss the funeral arrangements with you.
Registering the death
All deaths must be registered with the Register of Births & Deaths. They can be found:

Please take with you Death Certificate & Medical Card
You will be asked for the full name (and maiden name) of the deceased, his/her date and place of birth and occupation.
